Wow... Sad.

Actually none. I also had to support myself fully while in college. Based on your attitude, something you know nothing about.

Wow. Way to be judgmental.

In my initial post, I implied that the non-repaying student wasn't working at all. If you are trying to support yourself, then it's a different story.

1) Who says you can't have a part time job while making connections?

For some reason, I couldn't edit the original post, so I'll just say it here:
I never realized how dangerous this "solution" was. I appreciate everyone's corrections.

As with everyone else, thanks for letting me know.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't realize how dangerous my family's "home remedy" was!

I did not know that. Thanks!

I never used salt or baking soda. But flour worked back when we had grease drippings in our oven catch fire. (You gotta catch it fast and SMOTHER the fire in flour.)

Like my daddy always used to say "fight fire with fire."

"I'm glad to see your declawing doesn't make you feel like any less of a cat."

I have a Russian Tortoise. If you put a strawberry, tomato, or anything bright red in his view, he'll prop himself up on all fours and take off in that direction. It's actually quite adorable.

Really glad nobody died from this.

Read the linked article and I agree with your post. (Not sure if you are agreeing with me or trying to argue against me.)

I really don't see how this is a good idea. If I invested several thousand dollars into an account that my cousin's kids got to use, I'd be pissed as hell if they didn't take ANY job they could find after college to pay it back. (Like many OWS protesters)

It's sad. I feel that in these situations experience SHOULD count for comparable education. However, I do understand that there are quite a few people out there who just coasted by having others do their work because they "didn't understand this newfangled technology"

I live in Chicago.
But $300 seems like a lot. You might want to check with your local housing authority to see if it's legal to raise it that much.

You're right. It mainly happens in large, impersonal, industries.

I will say that you should be aware of any changes in policies at your company that "makes" you get a degree. Sometimes having a degree you don't "need" is worth not having to go to school on someone else's timeline.
