I get that. I just think that there’s more diversity among the the players of these types of games than allowing 1 woman on the panel.

The conversation derailed on what constitutes a “gamer” not who’s qualified to be on this panel. I think that people who have played the games these awards are referencing is important,

I’m not saying that they should include mobile or “casual” games, but I just feel like women account for more of the games these awards focus on than people feel. It just makes sense to include some more diversity among the people qualified to judge the games.

That’s all. It just then became a huge issue in

You don’t need a conversation to have a mattress dance.

But in looking up pictures, I am undecided if I would still do... probably... but he’s almost 30 years older than me.

100% would find a Delorean and do both Sheen and Judd Nelson in the 80’s.

I agree. And I’ve stated other places I don’t expect it to be 50/50, but other races/genders/sexual orientations should be represented as the gaming population becomes more diverse.

I disagree that women would be less qualified. I am sure there are plenty of qualified women out there.

Ummm when does having a diverse group equal giving everyone a prize?

I agree that change is happening and its beautiful. Diversity causes more diverse games, richer storytelling, all good things.

I agree with you that you need to be well versed to be on this panel. But surely there is more than one woman well versed in games out there.

In the multiple companies I work with there are a lot of women. Not as many as the men, but we get more female interns every year. I am so happy about this.

Thank you. That was logical and pleasant.

I understand that this awards scenario doesn’t cover the so called “casual games” but the overwhelming question based on responses to my response is why don’t people who play “casual games” count as gamers?

This isn’t pandering as well, females make up a chunk of the industry, 1 woman isn’t enough. While I don’t expect

I just don’t understand the following things:

But, why?

Wow... really?

Sorry, to me a game is a game... it’s entertainment, people play it, and they get enjoyment.

Why does that matter? What makes a gamer? Someone who spends 20 hours or more a week playing games?

What about the average adult who maybe gets 5-10 hours but spends time min-maxing or raiding? What special attributes make a gamer? Why are you so exclusionary? Why do you so desperately cling to this being a boy’s club??

Why does that matter? Because they don’t play *your* type of games they aren’t gamers?

That still states the fact that women still make up almost half of the gaming population... sooo.....????

Sorry that was a mistype, 22% of game industry professionals are women. Forgive me. Sometimes my brain moves faster than my fingers
