The review isn’t all that great (for example, there’s no mention of the various other recent shows treading similar ground) so I suspect that “primarily U.S. funded” might be an assumption by the reviewer, rather than an explicitly stated fact. I don’t know that there’s any level of pandering that would have American

I agree, but do we know for sure that America is the main funder/builder/etc. in this series? I can see a situation where the only way to fund a Mars mission is by partnering with another country, and the compromise that makes it happen is that one country gets mission command and the other gets the big photo op. Then

Once again, a total smear campaign against one Doug TenNapel. How are you journalist?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion when it comes to politics or social politics. Frankly, I find it quite immature to “cancel” someone and disregard all other aspects of their work and life based on a few of their personal opinions. You might as well burn all art and media before the 1980s then, because you

Some are pretty decent about it like OnePlus and Nokia. Motorola sucks at this when it comes to their cheaper lineup like the Moto E phones. Not totally sure about the Moto G6, but the Moto E usually gets dropped from software updates almost immediately.

I am watching Picard in a non-nitpicking frame of mind, just going where it takes me, and enjoying it very much as I leave the clunky parts along the wayside. I watched this ep this morning and it was a lovely way to wake up. The thing that stood out most to me is how Picard is FINALLY not the frail old man he’s been

I think Zack is being a little tough especially for an A- review. A Star Trek show can’t survive on nostalgia alone. I loved TNG but there are very good reasons why this show can’t and shouldn’t be trying to “bring the old band back together”. I dispute that it “promised to be a visit with old friends, and maybe some

Yeah, it’s been very different, and it’s strange to see Picard as such a fish out of water, but it works for me.

There’s always been the question of why anyone would be a barber on the Enterprise, or would anyone work in Joe Sisko’s restaurant? Why are all those miners, colonists, and farmers toiling away out in space?

Man, so much rage in these comments. I think Zack’s being a little overly harsh, but some of you guys, jeez. Is set design really that serious? Ten seconds of a vape-like thingy, that’s a big deal? Not to mention I don’t have much use for the whole “the Federation would never act like this” crap. Didn’t the root beer

They should put Mackenzie Davis in everything.

All this talk about Picard “not being the same character” doesn’t make sense. People change, and Picard is now a very old man who’s no longer in Starfleet, and left for traumatic reasons. He’s not going to act exactly the same as he did in TNG, and they’re going to give you examples of why that is.

to be fair, even a lot of TNG cast and crew say the first two seasons are “nearly unwatchable” - but i admit to loving them as they are.

Jeeeezus, but you are hard on this show. One wonders if TNG would have even survived its early, pre-Riker’s beard seasons in the modern era.

That finale was an emotional hit, beautifully crafted and executed. But as the initial impact fades, I now puzzle over the logic of how the multiple personalities worked and how they interacted with each other. Which should really be besides the point.

Round of applause for Mr Robot for crafting an amazing ending in a year that’s had some very notable misses when it comes to writing conclusions.

as a person from south east India i say “get over it”. this is not a problem and is not worth a documentary.

First: If you want to have a discussion about the intersection of themes and narrative of a work, it’s often a good idea to not lead with an insult. Tends to prevent things from becoming an argument.

It left some major unanswered questions for one. For example, not sure if you saw the episodes where Starbuck literally dies, then comes back to life... but how and why this happened (or it’s significance) is NEVER explained. She is also referred to several times as the “Harbinger of Death” but what that means is
