All this talk about Picard “not being the same character” doesn’t make sense. People change, and Picard is now a very old man who’s no longer in Starfleet, and left for traumatic reasons. He’s not going to act exactly the same as he did in TNG, and they’re going to give you examples of why that is.

to be fair, even a lot of TNG cast and crew say the first two seasons are “nearly unwatchable” - but i admit to loving them as they are.

Jeeeezus, but you are hard on this show. One wonders if TNG would have even survived its early, pre-Riker’s beard seasons in the modern era.

That finale was an emotional hit, beautifully crafted and executed. But as the initial impact fades, I now puzzle over the logic of how the multiple personalities worked and how they interacted with each other. Which should really be besides the point.
