It can be two things, I think.
The other reason people are not going to see the film, Covid. I used to see at least one movie a week pre-pandemic. My friends did a dinner and movie night every Tuesday for the last decade, and I frequently went to another movie on the weekends with different friends or family. Many of us are still not going to movie…
“I’m not saying that the Rowling comments didn’t have an impact, but to even imply that it was the major reason for these numbers is ridiculous and just wishcasting something out there.”
JK Rowling’s statements have certainly made me fall out of love with Harry Potter. It’s not a case of actively boycotting it or anything like that, but it’s really just a whole lot less fun once you lose respect for the author. So yes, it is a case of “eh...it exists,” but whereas before her comments I probably would…
The main demographic for this third film the studio was targeting are those very “woke people” as you slight them, the young adults who still felt a childhood connection for this franchise and world despite the bump of the previous film not being received particularly well. It’s why all the marketing for this film…

If it was a tiny drop that’d be one thing. Here however despite stronger critical and audience reception it’s lost business to the tune of millions in many areas where there was significant public backlash to her comments.
Ah, it’s probably more that less and less people give a damn about Harry Potter stories that don’t involve Harry Potter as time advances than either or those things. It’s a dead franchise if the lead character’s story is closed.
Yes because this film was so overwhelmingly Gay that it was made suitable for China’s ban on LGBT+ content by almost quite literally removing only two lines of dialogue...
I’m sure they’ll blame covid for it but this film is failing everywhere, including home territory like the UK despite getting a stronger critical praising than the prior entry. It wasn’t exactly being well-received as a series even before Rowling came out as a massive transphobe and that’s basically destroyed her…
It’s a movie perfectly tailored to the transphobic gay audience, but my accountant and his friend don’t like Harry Potter.
Fair point. I guess I’d say some insane shit if my my financial well-being were at stake. Of course, I’d like to believe that I would never, ever, for any reason, stake said well-being on being a fake crypto Pokémon landlord. I feel like I would recognize that that investment scheme sounds like a schizophrenic mad-lib…

Found the kool aid drinker.
The mod makes it more fun for these people. Why do you care so much?
I often find that people who say the difficulty “makes” a FromSoft game would never have touched one prior to Souls.
You meant ‘what asshat paid…’ right?
He’s a scumbag, yes. But the recall was also a right wing anti vax coup. Both things can be true. (Larry Elder would probably have absolved Actilizard of any wrongdoing.)
it’s almost like the site is reporting on the situation fairly since this did not occur until after that recall vote. As if time continues to move forward while your opinion does not.
