If you go to about 8:30 seconds in of the youtube broadcast, you will hear the translator say it as “the first game in this project”.

There’s no real data to back that up. Turn based games can still do amazingly well (Persona 5) but Square just doesn’t want to do it anymore.

There was, earlier in the presentation the Producer said “this first part will cover the Midgar story and has become a full game in it’s own right”

Is it weird to like this series even though I’ve never really gotten anywhere in them? I played a lot of them back in the day but I can never remember getting past the first few areas in any of them.

Every time I see the knight from this I think it’s an Odin Sphere spin off. The sprites and his design is so similar to the mook elven knights in that game.

I spent 2 hours earlier tonight just killing dudes and walked away with over 600,000 more skill exp than I had when I started which was about 17 SP where…
