For some reason, I really enjoyed this minor typo:

If you want to grow your arsenal a bit, we consider Lusty Monk’s “Original Sin” as far and away the best we’ve had in our family.  We have to mail order it, but it’s worth it.

I’m a boomer, and in my limited experience with my kind, we’re mostly just in a bubble of self-denial. We just don’t entertain thinking about such things as the world being a fundamentally different place than when we were younger. We’ve yet to come to terms with the next generation having a worse time of it than we

When I was a kid we asked our Presbyterian minister about this. He said he liked to imagine each world having their own God, and that they all got together on the weekends to shoot pool, gossip, and have a beer or two.  Where I still a member, I’d be pretty comfortable with this scenario.

I think most Americans are pretty shocked at how cheap buying legislation or policy really is, even from very rich politicians. When I used to operate in such areas, I was always a bit miffed that buying a politician wasn’t a bit more expensive (or conversely, why more citizens didn’t buy a few of their own).   If you

I’ve been on a few flights that had to power down and cycle the software while at the gate. It may be rare but maybe not unusual. I don’t recall if these were Airbus or Boeing planes as it didn’t seem to be a big enough deal to remember. It made many of the passengers uncomfortable of course, but each time it took

Slider buns also work well at home for most home cooked burgers, unless they are enormous. They look better too, since the bun doesn’t overwhelm the patty, tomato, etc. For my family anyway, all that extra bread is unwanted and unnecessary calories. Why waste it on buns when there’s fries and shakes right there to

Crocs of BS!

I assume this island also includes an underwater submarine entrance, missile launch facility, and doomsday machine?  Or is it just dinosaurs?

It seems like local cops could use this to their advantage (assuming it’s about safety and not revenue generation).  They could game the system a bit and impact speeds simply by having sites pop up here and there that may not be fully staffed nor long lasting.

This type of automation seems inevitable. In this case, moving away from an economy that relies heavily on the infrastructure surrounding consumerism isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The problems are going to be addressing the social and political upheaval that are likely to follow. Our current version of capitalism

My wife and I ran the Disney marathon a few years go, in which you get up before anything opens and run through all the empty tourist-free parks. The best part was all of the Disney characters turned out in force, including the evil ones. They, being evil, kept pointing in the wrong directions trying to send you

This needs to be sorted out quickly. Eggs are cheap, high in protein, quick and easy to cook, and tasty. The perfect food for hunger, hangovers, money shortages, laziness and other common afflictions.

I am old, and grew up in a small town with several teen and at least one pre-teen suicides, and as kids we talked among ourselves a lot about death and suicide. So I’m not sure the prevalence of these thoughts themselves in teens is new. If I am correct, then these findings are kind of good news - if it’s helping to

We’ve poked around with the idea of just throwing lunar dust off the moon a bit once or twice a year to reflect/absorb a small amount of Earth-bound sunlight. It seems fairly feasible (at least on the back on a napkin during happy hour). And has the benefit for fast dissipation, so if you miscalculate, in a year or

What is the value to the company of such payouts? These guys are tainted, so a competitor isn’t likely to hire them, so that’s not the reason (eg one was too icky for Uber!). What does a company gain?  They all seem to do it, so there must be some underlying value.

In my little Colorado city, a number of businesses take only credit cards, and a number of businesses take only cash. And sometimes they shift between the two so you never know what it’s going to be. It’s annoying, but you learn to always carry both, just in case.

My daughter’s sales of Girl Scout Cookies took a

Research should continue, but an accident every 15,000 miles is way higher than for humans.

We had a cougar wander into our Colorado neighborhood last year. Animal Control issued a statement that if we saw it we should “safely scare it away.” I’m still not sure what that means.
