Wouldn’t the power cables be embedded in the sub-surface concrete, not in the asphalt? They should be able to fix the road without touching the power system. Maybe they could combine it with power grid systems to use the road instead of power poles?

The rear view mirrors are probably a legacy of current drivered car legislation. it probably doesn’t need them, but the law says you have to have them. also, good for looking who’s honking from behind you because your self-driving car actually sticks to the posted speed limit...
