Have both, and I recommend the FireTV Stick, although both are nice, the FireTV Stick doesn't require you to fire up a PC or mobile device to get it going, it has it's own interface, 8GB of space, and while I haven't tried it, I'm pretty sure you can side load apps on it just like you can with the FireTV.

There's nothing to test, it just works automatically, like Remote Play does. When I pop in AC4 from the PS4's launch, it works with Shareplay, there's nothing to do. They had to actively disable the feature since it's worked with every other game that came before FW 2.0. Sorry, this explanation is
