They were odd and chunky, and either designed with budgetary constraints in mind or ease of toy translation.

Now to be fair, it was only released in 10 theaters that weekend. So if you take the average per theater, that’s...oh, that’s still horrible.

To be fair to this movie, it’s going to be quite hard to beat FIFA’s propaganda movie United Passions which made $607 in it’s opening weekend. Not $607 thousand. Six hundred and seven dollars.

Chief Aramaki and Batou (when his eyes are actually replaced with synthetics) look great. Johansson’s looks and voice (as mentioned elsewhere) throw everything off.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say its racist, but its just something thats going to keep a good movie from being a great movie. Its just not a good design decision.

Right? Its the voice that gets me. Everything around her is asian influenced design, asian people, and the narration is just plain old american.
