I wouldn’t say that. In my mind the 2-series is pretty close in spirit to what those care were.

A fact that we’re constantly reminded of when discussing wether or not the Mini Cooper was the very first hot hatch.

Historically a roadster was a 2-seats, 2-door car with no roof at all, not even a completely removable one. But now it means any 2-seater convertible.

Ferrari 250 GTO Breadvans you mean?

Early Jaguar XK120s as well. That’s the true definition of a roadster, yes, but it’s a bit archaic now.

BMW are quite aware that the two-door sedan exists, what do you think the two-door E30 was? or the 2002 for that matter.

I haven’t seen that movie, but if this is a screenshot from it, it’s an Avantime alright.

It’s a wagon with added style but, most importantly, two fewer doors.

At least it’s a better name than Xantia.

It’s good. With the base petrol it weighs less than a ton.

No, the Captur is a Renault.

It’s frugal and has built-in protection.

I think 5 gears in a 100hp car is fine. The old 4-speed PSA auto was notoriously awful though, but they have a new 6 speed now and reviews are good.

Every article I’ve read in the motoring press has been in pure adoration of this car.

I don’t know, but in my opinion small off-roaders like Land Rovers or Wranglers aren’t trucks.

“Why don’t they just build this concept??”

I like the Renegade, but I think the H-RV is much more handsome car. It’s also less weird, and no matter how much we’d want the opposite to be true, weird doesn’t sell.

You’re comparing apples and oranges here, the Fiesta ST is a 2013 car while the Twingo RS is a 2008, and most importantly they’re not in the same segment. The Fiesta ST is a Clio RS rival (B-segment superminis), the Twingo was an A-segment city car.

I don’t know if they really need to get the Twingo RS right. The first one was damn near perfect and it didn’t sell very well.
