Not as many as you would think to justify the huge marketing. I mean this IS America, after all. Our idea of good sci-fi is hyper realistic and tame as sin (as not to blow anyone's mind) dragons are considered cliche and magic is often boring and tame as hell as to make it more believable.

Absolutely. GUARDIANS under Bendis is an absolute mess compared to the DnA run which came before. It's a shame how bad the book is now when it was really fun.

Not television or most movie fantasy, surely — those were aimed more towards family viewing. If you go back and read some of the great dark fantasy books — anything Conan, for instance — you'll find there was an awful lot of sexing going on.
