Futile because the best-designed video game gun has already been designed - Half-Life's Overwatch Standard Issue Pulse Rifle - sleek, not over-designed with unnecessary shit, simple but futuristic, has like the most badass firing sound evar, and the mechanism the reflects it's users story-wise.

@gdamascus: Well it's just that it seems like the bulk of the game is going to be just...doing astronaut stuff, and around half of 2001 was spent watching dudes repair stuff and go to places and do more stuff...not that I'm saying it was boring, just slow; 2001 was amazing.
