Actually I don’t think he was going to. Reason being, next offseason is when the max will skyrocket. Unless Love is going to do what LeBron is going to do and that’s sign a 1 yr and then a max extension. Him opting in and then hitting free agency was what Cle wanted, since TT will surely get a max deal (or close to

That was the sorriest article I’ve ever read. Well 2nd to you’re “Jameis is a rapist, but all charges were dropped, but still” article. What’s next the female prison worker was the true victim article?

Oh, I completely agree with you. I’m debating this more as a Kobe fan. Your position is exactly what it feels like when everyone comes at you with the “efficiency” shot. In fact, everything about this is why I’ve always had a small “hate” spot for analytics. Because people use #’s to get to their conclusion, instead

But whats “expected” means squat. When you use that many possessions shooting that inefficiently, how can that be good? If out of 100 possessions you’re using 45% of them, and shooting a terribly inefficient 49.4 ts%... How is that better than Kobe shooting 55% on 32% usg? That is why “maximum expected” doesnt mean

Isn’t this Kobe-ball, but with way less efficiency. The only difference I see in this is that Cavs have an amazing defense to go with this iso-ball. I mean hell, your chart shows how terrible Lebron’s usage/ts% are comparatively to the HISTORY of the NBA.

Was that really your follow-up question? If a player can’t make shots, he better provide stellar D, otherwise he’s not a team.

Yeah, how did Tony Brothers miss that travel before Lebron even attempted that shot. FIX WAS IN!

The problem I have with your article and analytics in general is that dismisses the real reasons why teams are successful and its not because of their 3 pt rate (see Memphis as low volume and Philly as high volume). Coaching, Team Play, Talent, Defensive/Offensive efficiency all matter much more than 3-pt shooting.

And if you followed close enough, he finished with the 6th WORST Combine performance amongst 268 eligible players. So either draftniks does not update their rankings after the combine (which would be idiotic on their part) or you’re just blowing steam hoping no one would actually challenge your 4th round projection.

I think you hit the nail on the head. At times we forget all these athletes in every major professional sport are people in their 20’s to mid 30’s. Theyve been treated like god since they were in high school and that mentality has carried over. Heck, most of us thrown in their situation from the beginning would

Actually the results were the same, it just didnt inclue a stop in time. Tony horrendously missed his 3 3pt attempts, just like Deandre’s FTs

The challenge with using Allen as a screener, is that Bogut is so far off him - hes essentially “switching” on Conley in case he tries to penetrate while also giving Curry time to recover and reset. Pick and Rolls only work when the screener is also a threat either in the roll or the pop.

Let me ask you Tom, how do you punish the teams who foul? MAKE THE FUCKING FREE THROW or substitute the player out. Why do you think this strategy doesnt get employed when all 5 guys can shoot FTs competently? How about Deandre, Dwight, Josh Smith go work on their FT game? You know... To become a well-rounded player

“If there’s truth to this, it’s telling that the NFL doesn’t have the vocabulary to differentiate mental health from “mental toughness.” It’s a cold business, and anything that gets in the way of an athlete’s ability to stay on the field will necessarily take precedence.”

If "Drafting is a crapshoot" (which I agree with you), what was the purpose of your rant? There are many examples in history that prove you right and wrong.

And then get 2 contract extensions since then...

I get your sentiment here, but the NFL has proven that college stats doesn't automatically translate to the NFL. See: Texas Tech QBs, ALL Oregon QBs (Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Dennis Dixon), and TIM TEBOW.

Ahh, I love the “basketball fans”, who show up and use assists as the indicator of whether the guys shares the ball. But also forgets EVERYTHING else like usage rate, or how about the fact that it takes a made basket for the passer to get an assist. Do you know how many assists Chris Paul would average if he fed me

The main reason for the Harden trade wasn’t to build depth (although that could be one of the reasons, but not the main one), but rather avoid the luxury tax. Which is the one reason Presti, in a way, does get a pass. Clay Bennett effectively kept Presti hand-tied. However, the one move that could’ve solved all that

I was watching this game on and I cannot stand Houston’s homer announcers. The guy continually kept calling out “Flop!!” whenever a Spurs guy went down, forgetting their own star flails every possession. Its frustratingly hypocritical to hear Houston fans/announcers calling out flops when their own guy has made more
