I won't say that makes the entire thing look bad, because it doesn't, but character sprites are something we look at a lot, and if they're not good, the entire screen looks washed out. The fact that they're 2D is okay — personally, I like it better that way, too. But…

I admire the work put into it, but it looks awful. The character sprites are washed out and lacking in detail, Crono's hair looks like someone dipped a bunch of bananas in red dye and taped them to his head. It's dreadful.

What Jason said. Also, since Suikoden I is on the US PSN, saves would easily carry over to a potential Suikoden II on PSN.

If you played the first Suikoden, you could transfer your save file to the second and bring over stats/equipment for returning characters. And if you got the special ending in Suikoden 1, you could do an extra sidequest and recruit an extra character in Suikoden II.
