From reading this article they don’t seem to be advocating for men’s rights anywhere, just their desire to hold women to a hypocritic double standard. So IMHO they appear garden variety misogynists which is what sparked my question in the first place.

I was asking in order to clarify my perception that not all assholes are MRAs, but all MRAs are assholes. People seem to have verified my perception, which makes it weird that Jezebel insists on calling all assholes MRAs.

I like to think there is a normal distribution going on and is applicable to all groups. If you keep your group small enough, you can control it, but once it gets large, normal distribution kicks in and for every stand up citizen, you get an equal and opposite on the other side of the chart.

I did not realize that. I never do any additional research about these groups outside of the article they are mentioned in, but I find it hard to believe that each of these fanatical groups actually uses that terminology. But maybe it is true.

Man, that can be said for any group. There are so many people that there will always be some fringe, vocal minority - no matter how stupid the cause. And with the internet, it makes their stupidity even more accessible and permanent.
