The AI image was NOT a conceptual image put out by city officials. It’s just some random ass image put up on the internet. So theres no issue of poor monitoring or overpromising. Cant’t necessarily say the same about overpaying, but it looks like the 400k was for more signs than just this one.

I wonder if this mistake comes from an earlier Free Press article. It had a note about correcting the location.

I lived in Chicagoland during Southwest’s heyday runnning flights out of Midway. The airport was crowded and rundown. We were herded into little sections with our little plastic boarding cards.

Giving it a little more thought, I think parallax could be an issue, but not in the way the author presents it. A simple adjustment would solve the difference between two people of different height. No harder than adjusting a rearview mirror.

I’ve seen this parallax concern for other display technologies and I think it’s overblown. The photo at the top of the article shows a similar problem that we solved years ago - the rearview mirror. When I get in my wife’s car I adjust the mirror. Parallax problem solved. In fact, I only ever adjusted the side mirrors…
