It’s been pretty remarkable watching it happen. And a LOT has happened since 2020 when that article was written. I grew up in Woodstock, NY - mecha of hippy nonsense. It has been fascinating watching anti-vaxxers who were horrified when Trump was elected aligning themselves with a surprising amount of far-far right

Apparently you haven’t faced constant exposure to the endless noise from various far-right lunatics about how seed oils are causing transgenderism, all of our heart problems, and turning our nation of manly men into soyboy cucks.

It must be so fun freewheeling through the world being blissfully ignorant or intentionally obtuse.

Yeah the frame replacement was a wild one. My mom’s laughably old Taco got a frame replacement. So, good on them for that... And yeah, I have to assume the engine replacement is a hefty bit of money when multiplied by the number of trucks they might have to do..

Shame. Beautiful and historic ship. Shame about the environment too. Seems like a bum move from the former owner...

What’s crazy is that I still have this argument with people who, 30 years later, still thing it was some frivolous suit. Took a class in law school about product liability torts and corporate response and we went over this case. I’ll never get the image of those burns out of my mind.

What can certainly be said is that Toyota is taking accountability and fixing the issue. They’ve done great at that, and good for them. I have no idea what each re-build costs them, but I bet it was a pretty penny...

My concern was that the Tundra recall was related to debris that “may” be present in the engine, and was never a fully-solved event. And I’m not sure that Toyota is being all that transparent about it.

I love the idea. And I loved Saturn!

Looks like even Toyota isn’t immune from new-model-itis. I sure wouldn’t recommend a Tacoma/Tundra to anyone I know for another year or so.

2022 Volvo V60.

Kinda racist, though, eh..?

Rumors on other sites suggest one of them was doing a u-turn in the middle of the road. Anyone at Jalop hear that?

Is typing out “Model” really so time consuming? Write it out once and copy paste it if it is so onerous. My god, keep it to the Tesla forums or whatever. And really, SV? My eyes rolled so far back in my head I saw my occipital lobe when I put it together you were talking about Silicon Valley.

Whoa! 2650 hp! No wonder it’s “6% faster than competitive trucks.” Wonder how many torques. I suspect all of them.

The 3 hatch is so much nicer and only a bit more though...

I suppose I included pay stubs as being on paper - which is what I guess I really meant, and not on paper like bank statements. But yes, this guy must have high income and relatively good credit despite his absurdly bad financial moves. Average interest rates for new cars in 2023 was like... 8% or so... and he wasn’t

Couldn’t possibly be related to the fact that it weighs 10,000 freaking pounds...

Somewhere, somehow, this guy has money on paper. A lot of it. Maybe he doesn’t bring much home, I don’t know. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gotten the loan in the first place. This is an insane “deal” and I don’t think even the shadiest of dealers would take the gamble on someone who couldn’t at least theoretically pay

Yeah, I mean. Of course.
