This was my argument exactly! I didn’t agree to beta test all this nonsense and share the road with autonomous cars. Frankly, I’m not even sure we’re at beta testing yet and are still fairly close to alpha. But yeah, if you agree to generate data and be a test-bed for autonomous vehicles, by all means, buy one and

Ha. I was also recently shouting at clouds about this after driving my friend’s Outback. It’s not quite this big. And I guess arguably it has more merit being on an Outback than this? But... not sure about that.

Cool story bruh.

The 5-speeds were definitely amusing to drive. My friend’s was also a manual, and it helped make the car more enjoyable for sure. And absolutely! They had an enormous amount of room for how small of a car they actually were. Closest thing I can think of is a Honda Fit in terms of interior space vs. exterior size.

Awful. Such a weird inclusion in the game. I guess better than another GTR..

Cool and all. But this car just never made any sense to me. All the gorgeous looks of a Mark 4 Jetta with the anonymity of it too. Paired with an overly complex but not all that powerful engine. For way too much money. I mean, as a technical exercise it’s cool and all. But man, I wouldn’t touch that thing with a 10

My experience is limited solely to video games. So, I guess take it with a grain of salt.

Too little, too late if I had to guess.

It was definitely cheaply built inside. Man, looking back at photos of that dashboard... it was bleak.

There’s a guy around me that I’d love to flag down and chat with who turned his HHR panel van into a mini-overlander/camper. Got AT tires on it and a roof rack tent and it’s awesome.

Not much to disagree with here.

To a point, I agree. Certain networks are awful. And the apps/process for dealing with charging can be an god damn nightmare. Planning how to use them is definitely important - but that’s a bug, not a feature. You shouldn’t have to plan out a route and have a plan to take your EV 400 miles. That speaks to there not

Somewhat understandably, EV manufacturers knew that they had to appeal to a young techy group who were the ones buying EVs. But we’ve come too far. As the recent Jalop article discusses, we long ago reached peak technology in cars and now we’re just looking to add shit with no discernable use. It’s gotten absurd. I

All good points. I don’t necessarily think the PHEVs are the superior choice now. But I think they would have been fantastic training wheels for Americans ten years ago. We would have learned that 40-60 miles of electric range is surprisingly useful and that much of ours trips could be accomplished by just the battery

Yeah. Unfortunately, assholes are gonna asshole. It sucks. Eventually, enough people will do it that they ban them. And that’ll suck. Then I’ll have to go back to my shop lights in the back.

Yup! My Dad had a 2016 Chevy Spark EV, which he got in 2017. And I inherited in 2020. It was a great little car - sure, it had a tiny range (60 miles when I got it). But it had tiny range because it had a tiny battery. So, it was cheap! It was also a blast to drive. And I could drive it to work and back and run

I’m a huge believer in plug-in hybrids. For now, I think they are up there in the best-case scenario. It eliminates range anxiety and ends up doing a vast amount of leg work in terms of (like you said) making the majority of people’s drive emission free.

Range anxiety was sort of the after-effect of the range wars by EV manufacturers. Suddenly, even 300 miles wasn’t enough. Manufacturers became so fixated on having hundreds of miles more than actually necessary and touted it that it became the de facto choice for EV purchasing despite the reality that 95% of Americans

Unfortunately, in my immediate life, the majority of families that I see have the following:

Do you know that opening the door dilutes any gases to non-concern levels? How? Why? I don’t know that? Does anyone know that? Doesn’t it warrant some investigation? The Forbes article mentions that studies were done in both summer and winter:
