Why is your homebuilt camera solution better integrated and better looking than the vast majority of backup cameras? Nice job, man.
Indeed.
Just a casual reminder that motorcycle deaths are up 21% from ten years ago and that, while they only drive 0.6% of vehicle miles traveled per year, they make up 14% of traffic fatalities. It is true that there are more motorcycles on the road now than there were ten years ago, but it is not a pro rata increase…
I remain unconvinced that the future of fun-to-drive cars will only get bleaker and bleaker. Heavier. More gadgets and electronics. Fake noises. It all makes me feel like a real doomer boomer.
Lol.
Maybe this is why the douchebag dad I secretly hate who drops off his kid at daycare at the same time as me owns a $120k Cadillac Escalade for him and his 19 month old to go back and forth from daycare in.
I guess you just live in a very different part of the world than I do.
Fascinating! Thanks for sharing. Way more interesting than this “article.”
I would assume a full-kit suspension designed for a specific vehicle right off the shelf would be the best bet. But, when I was doing all this stuff I had to do it a piece at a time because I was a broke kid doing most of the work with a buddy in the backyard. Swapping a d16 in using a comealong attached to a tree…
Definitely true. My first experimentation in suspension mods was a long time ago, but it started with some Neuspeed lowering springs on my 91 Civic on stock shocks (it was the 90s, ok). Looked “awesome” and I “definitely” noticed a difference in handling. (And bouncing, and stiffness - but at 19 I thought that’s what…
The vast majority of suspension mods. Outside of maybe a 1" drop for looks, I’d say 90% of hobby-tuner suspension modifications serve to make the car uncomfortable and more unpredictable. Occasionally they are done right, but most of the time you get a bouncy uncomfortable ride with snap oversteer, terrible understeer…
I don’t care if it’s the reality TV version of F1, full of carefully edited drama that was turned to 11 for the sake of attracting new fans.
I always notice it in movies and shows when they didn’t get permission (or license or whatever else is needed) to show the car logo. It’s always a glaringly obvious noticeable thing to me, but, I’ll mention it to my wife and she absolutely does not notice.
It doesn’t solve the money problem, which was a big part of what standardizing and hyper-technifying the rules was (allegedly) all about.
I was ready to hate it when my friend’s said they were doing it. Then it rolled up and I instantly changed my mind. I love it...
The list of cars I would spend $60k on is a mile long before I'd even consider this thing.
Sixty....thousand..... dollars...?
A sensible plan. But a boring one!
Well, just in case the “want to know” side wins out, it’s a fairly straightforward kit from Journeys Offroad. They specialize in vans, so they sell kits for the Odyssey, Pacifica, Sienna and others. I thought it was a 3" lift, but it’s actually 2.75". The kit is now $575. I think they paid around $1200 to install and…
