It's just using a bunch of singleplayer assets in multiplayer. Sure it takes work to assign layout and rules to the maps, but it's not like they're giving us completely new areas.

If they released a second thumbstick 3DS after they just duped a bunch of people to get the 3ds, their consumers would be pissed! It would be hard to come up with a reasonable solution to have games that would be great yet still workably backwards compatible with the singlestick 3ds.
