The villain in the first seasons of SG-1 was Apophis, a rival Goauld system Lord to Ra. Ra was supposedly one of the dominant & most powerful but after he was killed in the events of the movie it left a power vacuum and other system Lords started fighting for dominance

It may be cultural to the city, I live in LA after all, a lot of crazy aggressive drivers here. Road rage is synonymous with LA traffic. Your town may have more reasonable drivers. LA is also a glut of Porsches and nearly every other sports car as well so our local stereotypes may be more extreme.
