What's funny is that ST did almost the exact same story in the Animated series ep The Magicks of Megas Tu where the Enterprise travels to the unapproachable center of the galaxy, discover a mysterious planet occupied by an alien being with God-like powers who turns out to be Satan, but he turns out to be a super cool

Part of that was because of the budget of TOS but also because of the limitations imposed by Roddenberry’s storytelling.

It was true to the spirit of TOS and more or less copied the plots of a few TOS eps but that does not make it a good film by 1990 stamdards

ST5 is definitely the worst of the TOS cast movies but it’s terrible in an enjoyable way as its fun to discuss and make fun of. Especially when you no longer take it seriously as a ST film and instead see it for what it was: a vanity project for William Shatner with not enough control or regulation from the studio.

You loved that movie for the ripoff Aerosmith song at the end, admit it

All the other films had ILM at their disposal to do their VFX but that particular year ILM was tied up doing a couple other major films including The Last Crusade and had no time for ST, so they had to farm out the work to a smaller VFX house in Jersey called Ferrin & Assoc. who only had experience in creature

You know that the only reason he was allowed to direct was because Nimoy directed movies 3 & 4 and the two actors have a ‘most favored nation’ clause in their contracts that says whatever one is paid/allowed to do, the other must be given the opportunity to do the same.

Yes but I didn't find it funny so Im pretending to take you seriously and giving it a serious reply

Except for ST6 the Undiscovered Country

Maybe the car's top speed limiter was broken, with age.

You're confusing this with a DCEU movie where none of the characters had previous films to firmly establish their characters in previous stories.

Because they're cheap captive labor? You think America is above these sort of practices?

One of the rules is one foot must be in contact w the ground at all times. Trying moving fast WITHOUT having both feet in the air as you do when you run. And then try to walk a mile in under 7 min.

I know, every time the subject of terraforming Mars comes up I keep thinking ‘uh.... dead core, no magnetic field?’

You can cough up the unobtanium to construct the high speed drill craft (I love that movie even though its so dumb).

I love the majority of the comments on here
