According to product leak from Audi of America, it’s slated for release mid 2017 as well

So when 4 adult friends choose to carpool together when going out to dinner, movie theater, concert, road trip, etc in one car rather than driving all separately thus not clogging up the roads and parking lots with fewer cars, making more room for you. You choose to punish them. I think I understand you better now.

That’s what buyers of the GC want, a lower, more coupe like center of gravity, for that kind of driving and handling, but with the utility of a more usablable back seat and 2 extra doors

If you see them same angle, in person, the difference is much more apparent, the Gran Coupe has the coupe front and rear end styling

Unfortunately you’re pretty far outnumbered by the Audi buyers who don’t care and will get an AT.

I had a Hyundai Veloster, I would have honestly preferred it an even 4 doors all around.

Someone I know insists that someone from Audi said for the B9 chassis, that an RS5 sportback is in the works. But I’ll believe it when I see it

The roofline of the A5 sportback does not suit taller humans very well for headroom. Hence the purpose of the traditional A4 sedan roofline

That’s how the sportback rear hatch opens, same as the 3 series Gran Coupe. That’s what I really like about it

Families with 4 door hatchbacks put the kids in the backseat and their groceries in the hatch/trunk area the same.

and 6 series ‘Gran Coupe’

You forgot to include in BMW’s sedan count the 4series GC (A5 sportback equivalent) and 6 series GC (A7 equivalent) which puts its sedan count even with Audi again

its a 4 door car with a coupe front/rear end styling and a liftback hatch? I like that idea and was annoyed it was only available in Europe and not here in the US. Even moreso annoyed when BMW’s versions were made available here for sale.

It’s implied if they bring that chassis here. One announcement at a time. Be patient

The current 3 series looks much more handsome with a coupe/4 series front and rear fascias. I’ve always been a fan of the GC styling

Likewise, I was wondering why it took this long for Audi to pull the trigger since this product has already existed in Europe in both A5 and S5 form for the last several years. Still I’m happy to hear this news

That’s why they’re called ‘sport back’ because they have the 3 series GC/ Panamera style hatchback.

You realize most car buyers out there are not jalops or care about driving dynamics or performance, right? Besides plenty of overpriced luxury cars out there that aren’t necessarily good handlers and slow.

I don’t get the natural history of pedestrian safety laws, yes I know they were spearheaded in Europe because there are more pedestrians there crossing streets in major urban centers, vs American cities.
