I read that ILM wasn’t available because they were busy with The Last Crusade and so Shatner and the producers had to go with a 3rd rate VFX house based out of NJ.

That was because the studio couldn’t get ILM at the time for their VFX (because the firm was busy with The Last Crusade) and had to farm out their FX work to some nobody firm in NJ named ‘Ferrin and Co’
My take on your point is that Disney/Lucas doesn’t think the story elements of the EU is without any value, but they didn’t want their new film franchise to be 100% beholden to the exact EU storylines and thus completely predictable to nerd SW fans who will say ‘ITS NOT SPOILERS, READ THE BOOKS!’ and to avoid that…
If their ‘Happy Ending’ continued on 30 years from now...what’s the point in a new story? I think it’s good, modern storytelling that stays within the spirit of the SW saga.

I still love his line ‘UMLIMITED POWER!!!’ even if its in an ironic way

I think I counted 3 total scenes of lens flare in the entire movie. No joke, I was on a lensflare count.
Or Damon Lindelof
If you’re being sarcastic, I don’t get the joke
Listen to the Fatman on Batman podcast with Andrew Kreisberg interview, especially pt 2, he goes into a lot of inside baseball discussion on what they're allowed to use for CW DC shows as well as Supergirl. In a way, being restricted from using the big 3 has opened up their creative possibilities in a huge way
Arrow is probably her introduction but probably not her permanent home
I’m guessing his fight scenes w Cruise at the end of the film wasn’t acting...
Because we finally live in a are where retro Victorian era steampunk is cool among sci-fi geeks
Yep, first season was alright (and surprisingly gory) but that abrupt switch in the second season I was like...who are all these new characters and am I watching the same show?
Yes it’s always going to be interesting wondering how the other actors portrayal of the character would end up
