He took over the hot seat 5 months ago, Piech was in charge of VW up til then. The dieselgate scandal centers around cars made before Winklekorn was in charge. It’s kinda obvious which CEO was likely responsible...

I just checked and it still shows up as $99 on amazon, not $67. When is this supposed to show up as a discounted offer?

It’s not what you said, but its the natural extrapolation of what you said. Porsche is good because of the cost of what they put into their cars. You’d have to ramp up VW quality the same manner.

So you want the VWs to be priced like Porsche as well? That’s brilliant...

Wouldn’t it be interesting if Piech knew about this whole diesel tampering under his watch and let himself be ‘ousted’ from the hotseat so when the news broke, his successor, Winklehorn was the one in the hot seat. And now he may be back in control without having to resume the hot seat directly himself.

VAG the company owns Porsche the company, but the human members of the Porsche FAMILY were running VAG until Piech’s ousting and replacement by Winklehorn.

Thanks for the input, now I’ll add your anecdotes to those i’ve ‘Read’ on the counter side of the debate.

I’ve read from other Abarth owners that the Fiat build quality and reliability is pretty sub par, I’m guessing your experience differs?

It’s hard to call that the ‘high road’ if volutarily quitting was his only real viable option, the other being raked over the coals and having his life ruined. Yes I’d certainly take the ‘high road’ if that included a cash payout and make a few pithy statements of remorse for the press and VW shareholders.

Ze Germans...

What I learned from the comments here is that everyone on both sides are entitled, opinionated assholes who think only they are right.

I read this article, see the photos under the title, and all that runs thru my head is

To sum it up bluntly, he was an inspirational asshole and a consumate man of the 70s

I never understood why fans dislike the looks of the Giulia. It has those strong muscled sports sedan lookd. Basically if anyone likes the new M3 they’ll like the look of this

Some language confusion, I’m referring to American shoppers of German luxury cars, not car shoppers of German nationality.

You just won’t take your anger out on buyers because

Lol its mentioned in the very first line of the article, but no problem

I drive a ‘14 model. It’s possible they improved the DSG by then

Because every one who posts on Jalop are seasoned track drivers who live in parts of the world with glass smooth roads and zero traffic
