That's like saying, "I don't get mad when a black person calls me a cracker, they shouldn't get mad when someone calls them a nigger." Apples and oranges. Anyone with a brain will say, "Woah. That's totally not the same thing." even though both words are used as pejoratives.

A really solid list. I'm guessing Wii Sports made the cut due to it's widespread mass appeal rather than any sort of critical merit, but otherwise nothing on the list isn't worthy of making a "Best Of" list. Though I'd swap out Wii Sports for Resident Evil 4 and Mass Effect 2 for Demon's Souls or Persona 4 (or some

Maybe you should be working at work instead of browsing Kotaku.

This is hilarious. I pity all the people who don't understand it.

Lotta good-but-not-great games this year, so the nominees are fairly unsurprising. Woulda given Borderlands 2 a nod for GotY over AC3 though. Still, awesome to see an indie title make a GotY list and it's nice to see someone remember that Mass Effect 3 was still a superb game save for the last ~30 minutes.

You realize Guitar Hero was created by Harmonix, right?

They made a song about a dude killing his girlfriend and violating her corpse, only for her to come back to life, kill him, and have a zombie wedding together. I don't wanna be friends with someone who can't love that.

There are two types of reviews - consumer information and a critique. Consumer information is for insipid drool-mouths who need a score and game details because they're incapable of judging a game on their own and need someone else to do it for them. A critique is for big kids who can use their brains to delve into

It's unfair to say that spawned the genre though, or that it's even based on it. It was such a rudimentary concept at that point, that it has little to do with what the MOBA genre is today. Warcraft 3's hero units and subsequently the DotA map is where the genre truly became what it was. While there is history beyond

"How the hell can StarCraft compete with the exploding popularity of games like League of Legends and Dota 2—games that, ironically, are based on a fan-made customized map from the original StarCraft?"

"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was originally released in October 2002"

I'm not worked up, I'm just being pedantic. Technically correct is the best kind of correct.

While a phrase like "Thank God" or "Oh my God." may not hold any particular religious meaning to the person saying it, the phrases themselves are in reference to the Judeo-Christian God, thus are still proper nouns. Just because someone doesn't know, "To be or not to be?" is Shakespeare doesn't mean the person saying

That still doesn't change the fact that god can be a proper noun and, when phrased as it is here, is used as such. For instance, when you say "Hey, Dad . . ." you capitalize it, whereas "My dad . . ." isn't. Again, it's not an issue about belief; merely proper grammar.

I'm sure you don't believe in Zeus or Hogwarts either, but you still capitalize those. A proper noun is still a proper noun. You don't capitalize shit on whether or not you believe it's real.

In fairness, Z.H.P. was mocking the exact type of tropes this article is poking fun at. To mock it's name for mocking the names of the games you are mocking doesn't make much sense.

1.) The game is easier the more people you play with.

By educating the plebes of their own ignorance. While it does get a bit lonely up top, it's never any less amusing to watch your shit land on those beneath you.

If you see nothing but children's toys when you look at games, a.) you're insulting yourself by suggesting you're in a state of arrested development, and b.) I will gladly look down on anyone with an opinion so pathetic and worthless that it doesn't even deserve to be spoken.
