If you read the article, people who pre-ordered on steam won’t be able to get it on Steam.

Gamers aren’t exactly known for being the most dedicated boycotters...

They are not complaining about it being unfair to valve, they are complaining about it being unfair to people who already preordered the game on the steam platform. That is objectively unfair tbh.

I get that, but still a AAA just up and changing distro model after taking pre-orders and all that, including DLCs. I understand the money decision behind this and probably driving this, but I still think a close look at how this came about would be super enlightening.

Ok, Valve complaining about the “fairness” of anything is laughable, but I’m actually really curious about the decision-making process that led to this happening in this manner at this late a point.

I mean, it’s a pretty well-known fact that not only are these looter-shooter type games pretty grindy, but their main player bases LIKE them to be grindy.

I love a good Metroid game as much as the next guy, but they’re not exactly system sellers. The GameCube arguably had the best Metroid game and the best Smash game, and it only sold 20 million units. I’d say the opposite is true. Metroid needed the Switch to be the success it is to give it a large enough install base…

That is essentially what happened with Doom if I remember.  Id was almost done with the final game, but didn’t like how it was playing, so they scrapped the entire project and started over from scratch.  And what we ended up with most will agree was a damn near masterpiece.

I’m just as excited for MP4 as you are, but let's be real - the Switch's momentum is definitely not dependent on a Metroid game. the bigger problem with these tests is that it hurts your DNA score for like a year. you don’t even need to check your DNA unless you’re purchasing a kid or something.

One of those games that is executed with mechanical perfection but ends up completely frustrating a lot of people not willing to build up to the complexities at the top level.
