What’s stranger is that, in a suitable headwind, certain planes can fly backwards. The Antonov An-2 is somewhat famous for being able to essentially “hover” in a 26kt headwind, and in anything over that it can actually slowly drift backwards while still remaining above stall speed.

The infrastructure is why investing in hydrogen as a gasoline/diesel alternative is a waste of time, at least for regular consumer vehicles. For trucks it makes sense, but not for consumer-level cars.
