Maybe this is just childhood rose colored glasses, but isn’t that what Murphy Brown was about? I mean, she did have a kid, but the guys were never central to the plot or memorable in any way.

Her teeth did show that she had high “geographic mobility,” though. Doesn’t mean she saw battle, of course, but it does throw a monkey wrench in any theory that she was just sitting at home and protecting the hearth fire.
It’s no time like the white folks in the Jim Crow era were paragons of education. They were just wave don’t through by sympathetic inspectors or literally grandfathered in. (If your grandfather could vote, so could you. GEE, I wonder if that was aimed at freed slaves.)
With a name like that, there’s no way there’s not agents cracking jokes about “Operation MAGA.”
Yeah, in my hometown they had a bunch of people die in the local jail because it caught on fire and the guys in charge just literally ran away. Fire department got there and everything, but the delay in getting people out of their cells because the guards weren’t there to help killed everyone. Worst fire my dad said…
Going to be a bit of an echo here, but did you? To get the hardship waiver they have to sign papers threatening them with two years of jail time if they can’t prove it, which isn’t calculated to be threatening to people with few resources at aaaalllll.
Saying people with warrants will be nice and safe in jail ignores how dangerous jails are and the obvious fact that MANY people with warrants have family that depend on them. So what, should the single mom with a warrant for parking tickets head to the shelter, drop off the mobility impaired grandmother with her small…
Ooh, you’re good.
This is a truly compassionate time to support this law, considering how many people just had their important paperwork turned into a pulpy mess in the flood waters.
Oh, they had two backup generators! But some genius apparently put them where they could be easily flooded. In a city that has been flooded multiple times. In a factory that was right next to two big water sources that could (and did) overflow their boundaries.
I’ve wanted a copy of this since I saw the fuzzy old image! Sell it, DC! (And thank you for restoring it!)
My parents did something similar (my grandmother’s maiden name for me) and I LOVED it. I was really into the associated culture as a kid too, more so than my brothers.
Police also claimed the Charlottesville killer was “just scared,” before footage surfaced of him flying through two empty blocks to hit the protestors.
At least one story I saw said there was evidence of “intentional dismemberment” as well as some sort of effort to allow gases from decay to escape so the torso wouldn’t float.
THIS! I was laughing in horrified glee until it suddenly ended and she was not telling the joke I thought she was telling.
That appears to be a statue of a Zombie Robert E Lee.
I am so, so sorry. I can’t imagine how hard this must be, but maybe it can be some tiny piece of solace to know you’re protecting your children from the confusion and heartache of loving someone who values politics over loved ones.
I totally need to do this! I didn’t even think of it, but with fitted sheets you wouldn’t see the bottom bit anyway.
I still remember the first time I sa the Stephen Foster statue. I remember thinking “hooooly shit, that looks..... very racist.” And you’re right, the info marker at the site does not help.
Can someone make bedsheets charms? I am so sick of pulling sheets out of the dryer and going “uhhh is this a queen, full, or king?” For some reason most of the sheets I own don’t list the size on the label.
