Absolutely, but it doesn’t mean that we should lump all gun owners together. We absolutely have a problem in this country when it comes to our use of firearms and it needs to be addressed, but it doesn’t mean that every gun owner is a murderer.

I compared internet communities relevant to this conversation and the article itself.
True, but the person I was responding to was disparaging 4chan as a whole, which is unfair.
And they’re entitled to their racist opinions. If they’re not infringing on others’ rights I have to support their first amendment right to those opinions, even if I disagree with them.
I agree wholeheartedly, my point was that one subsection of a group does not represent the entire group. I certainly didn’t disparage io9 as you seem to be implying.
You won’t be alone, but you can join the group telling me to fuck off. It won’t change anything though.
I compared two internet communities that are relevant to this article, sorry I didn’t include every single internet community in existence in my example. SMH.
They certainly are when you lump /fit/ and /tg/ in with /b/ and /r9k/. Even within those latter groups they aren’t all hate mongers. How does it feel when commenters on other GM blogs lump everyone in the Jez comments together as though they are all extremists? Not good I imagine; this is the same thing.
The point is that we shouldn’t be lumping everyone together in any case, whether it’s men, followers of a particular religion, etc.
Don’t be that person. Not all of 4chan is /b/ or /r9k/ just as not all of Gawker is Jezebel or io9.
Nailed it.
Even if you’re flirting don’t wink. It’s never flattering, it always just makes people look drunk.
To each their own of course, but ecstasy (and mushrooms and acid) taught me incredibly important lessons about how we perceive one another and how we ought to act towards each other. PLUR became an integral part of my personality, not that I don’t have the occasional slip up and act like a dick, and it has served me…
I don’t have any experience living kosher but it always seemed like the hardest part would be ensuring that meat and dairy were kept totally separate. Avoiding pork, while unfortunate because it is fucking delicious, wouldn’t be so difficult in my mind.
It doesn’t have to be a sandman.
I so hope you end up with more stars for that comment than the person you replied to. It’d be fitting. :)
Can we all just stop being violent please? I don’t find it that hard, I’m not really sure why so many people seem to think it’s incredibly difficult.
A glass of wine is six ounces; no more, no less. Anyone who offers you different has no idea WTF they’re doing.
Is this that much different from the Mormon practice of baptizing the dead?
