At least Schwarzenegger had screen presence, even if he was (is) a terrible actor (though, I contend that he was pretty awesome in Conan the Barbarian). The Rock has no screen presence and no charisma. Also, yes, he's an ex-wrestler, which also biases me against watching his films.

Ugh, I hate those movies. All of them. But I understand where you're coming from. I grew up with terrible movies like The Beastmaster and The Sword and the Sorcerer, and those are still near and dear to my heart for the reasons you describe. One's tastes do tend to change over a couple decades.

Um, that sounds very boring.

It seems like social networking is a big key to the success or failure of a self-published writer (a well-written piece of fiction probably doesn't hurt either), and I wonder at whether I have the self-discipline for something like that. OMFG

An artist has to make the art that sets his/her imagination on fire. I agree that restrictions and art do not mix.

I can relate to what alexcaracas85 is saying, though. The films and books that really appeal to me (perhaps not to everyone) are not about ideas, they are about people. How we interact with one another. Why we love, hate, marry, go to war, live, and die. As a writer, no matter how fixated I am on whatever social

Any science fiction film that attempts to do more than just wow audiences with SFX is a good thing. I will definitely see this in the theater.

X wing?
