That duck screaming at the end was terifieing. I hope the puffalumps did not hear that.

Like the other poster said, you really need to read more about actual laws than what you believe. Pedestrians are quite legally allowed to walk on roads if there is no sidewalk. In fact, the law goes further to state they should walk against the direction of traffic.

As a California resident, I have witnessed lane-splitting all my life. Here's some observations:

If more Americans tried travelling in Europe, they'd find there's a different world out there where these weird things happen without everyone dying. Also two lanes of traffic sharing a 25' wide road with parked vehicles on both sides. It's called 'consideration', like taking turns to duck into a gap for a few seconds

My experience in oregon,(which also has a lanesplitting bill up) is that the douchebros with their jacked up city queen trucks are too scared of getting a scratch on their babies to do anything to a biker. Now, the olds on the other hand, they are a menace.

Another thing to worry about...

Because people's brains aren't tuned to bikes. Rear ending at stop lights and happens a lot and is often fatal for the bike. That's why its better to filter between cars. Other drivers see them. I've been riding in traffic for 11 years and over 13ok miles. About 30k of lane-splitting without incident. Scariest

To be fair, this is the same argument against 300+hp sports cars and convertibles, and, oddly, pickup trucks.

I'll preface this by saying I don't mind lane splitting, so long as you don't take off my mirror. It sucks for drivers because it's one more thing to worry about, but that's my problem. And I try to give motorcycles as much space as possible, since the consequences of a crash and so great.

No other benefits other than increased safety for riders, especially when at a stop where they can use lane splitting to mitigate the risk of being rear-ended. There really is no substantiable reason NOT to allow lane-splitting.

Why are so many motorcycles getting rear ended? Is this a thing? The bike is right there in front of your windshield, it's easy to see. Unlike trying to spot a lane splitter while changing lanes, which is difficult to see, and very unexpected.

Awww, too bad for your ego that bikers can get through traffic faster than you and cause less congestion...

I've watched plenty of videos on youtube, and i also ride a motorcycle AND drive a car... lane splitting in my state is a gray area (NC) and i really wish it wasn't, because uninformed drivers, much like yourself, tend to get upset when we do it....

Lane splitting is legal in the entire world, EXCEPT for the 49 states.. And I guess Canada? It reduces traffic, especially in urban areas where small bikes/scooters are all that is needed for most people's transfers. On the highway, at a standstill, many bikes are going to overheat, or otherwise become literally

Haha, stereotypical impotent coward acting tough only when hiding behind internet anonymity or tons of stupid pig-iron.

One of the bigger issues that plagues LA and the rest of California is the killer bike combo of heavy traffic and hot weather. A motorcyclist stuck in stopped traffic is not only more likely to be seriously injured in a rear impact than someone in a car, but the engine is more susceptible to overheating and leaving

Disagree, but I do agree there should be a licensing process akin to what is used in the UK, which is a long and elongated process. I started off on a 250 at age 15, and eventually worked up to a liter bike over the span of several years and several bikes. No accidents. No issues and ~30+/- bikes later.

Let me guess- you got to keep the bike, too? ;0)

It's been done. 29,000 miles across the US on a Panigale:
