On it’s own... A Timed “Sprint” race (with timed or marked “fast” and “slow” sections) could actually work. IMO. It would functionally be like Heat racing, but with less downtime. “Heat” based events work well for other series; BTCC and WSBK come to mind.

This was bad, but not the worst, at least the bikes stayed the same. In Torque they swapped the entire bikes for the offroad scenes.
