I'm not sure how the argument about online is moot if the PC version still requires persistent online connection. Maybe moot to the people logging in, but clearly not moot to the people who choose not to play or support online requirements.

Finally, Nintendo is coming out with the killer games. Smash Bros alone will sell tens of millions of WiiUs.
Obviously playing offline is a big deal to me since it is the reason I listed as not buying the game.
So this is the best version of the game. Playable offline without any RMAH. Funny, rarely are console versions superior to PC versions.
Great commentary, a lot of it is common sense, but clearly, not common enough.
As I've said, they are not mutually exclusive. Earning an honest living is not some impossible task.
It is easy to sit up here because I do not profit from stealing other people's hard work. It is not exactly a difficult position to be in.
Sure, and what about the original content creators? Their work is being cloned. They make less money, depending on the game, sometimes they get completely ousted by their cloned competition. So what are you saying, it is okay to do whatever it takes to feed yourself and yours? Society is just survival of the most…
As other people have said in this thread, it is technically not illegal to clone games in this way. EA actually sued Zynga for cloning The Sims, and despite EA saying they were going to pursue this issue for the sake of ethical reasons, they ended up settling out of court for undisclosed terms. It is unfortunate…
Maybe you work in the wrong field if all of your potential employers are that offensive? What do you do for a living, professional baby seal clubber?
Right, because feeding their children and earning an honest living are mutually exclusive?
No, a stranger's opinion is not a reason to have integrity. You have integrity for yourself, not for others.
Yeah but they choose to work there. Choosing to work at a place where the standard practice is cloning is still being guilty of that choice. I am not sure why lower level employees should not be held accountable for their professional choices? Choosing to work for a boss who tells you to clone is choosing to clone.…
Sure, you are totally right, it is not technically illegal, if it were, it would not happen. That doesn't mean we (gamers, the free market) can't shunn and criticize companies who choose to lawfully behave like crooks and thieves.
I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS
No, this is the problem. The developers ARE responsible for what they choose to do and which company they choose to work for. Being employees does not make them some impotent slaves who are unable to make choices for themselves. They choose to be a part of a company that is literally built on the practices of theft,…
Sure, I have seen the "people have to work" argument lots before.
Yup, they did make their own content. But they also chose to join Zynga. Once you willingly associate yourself with a company that is literally built on cloning or buying-out competition, you are then accomplice to that company's choices. There was 1 person at OMGPOP who refused to join Zynga, and his boss insulted…
There is an AMA with ex-Zynga employees over on Reddit right now. It is great to read about how they justify cloning games as "fast following" games that get popular. Yes, when they clone games at Zynga, they have their own special lingo they use to LIE to themselves and justify their morally and creatively bankrupt…
