Yeah, I am a Valve fanboy and Steam is definitely a form of acceptable DRM. Just as much as Xbox Live or the PSN is also a form of acceptable DRM. I don't love DRM and I do wish that Steam was completely DRM free like Good Old Games, but I am willing to accept it since it is very minimal and non-intrusive DRM.

Oh boy, you convinced me. Thanks, internet.

Yeah, I do think all of JR's emphasis on digital distribution is the right direction and is going to pay off for EA in the next 5 years. So whoever replaces JR will get to reap up all the benefits of that.

Wow, this not only looks like a good game, this is an excellent trailer. It has a great use of game footage, concept art and the song is a perfect fit. I can't wait to play this!

Yeah, my guess is SimCity was the final straw. It will be interesting to see who replaces him now, and if EA shies away from JR's heavy emphasis on digital distribution.

Yup, the industry is filled with assholes and children. Sadly, those of us who are neither, are still often defined by them.

Yeah man, I can't recommend the agent story enough. Lots of big and unforgettable moments in the story and a great cast of characters. I hope you have fun!

Yeah, there are also lots of bad parents out there too. I know a dad who took his 5 year old and 7 year old to the Watchmen movie. Worst Dad on the Planet.

Wow, its like common sense is..common.

I know the rating system is very easy to figure out if you look it up or read the descriptions, but I personally think a way to improve the effectiveness of the rating systems would be to simply adopt the MPAA rating system.

Huh, I think I'd prefer that on Kotaku, than the current layout.

This hits too close to home. I feel like I should go buy new clothes, and take a shower, and eat something, and stop playing video games all night.

It is nice to see that some people actually bother to read posts before responding. Thank you for that.

I don't even care about SimCity. I only care about devs and publishers baking persistent-online DRM into the "multiplayer experience"

Yup, as much pride as I take in refusing to buy Diablo 3, Blizzard recently announced they sold like 12 million copies of the game.

Its because persistent-online DRM that games like SimCity and Diablo 3 use is a fucking plague on the game industry. It is an ANTI-CONSUMER business practice that is designed to tighten the publisher's grip on their content distribution. Publishers hate used game sales and piracy, and they already tried overt DRM.

Okay, you keep swallowing the shit they are serving you. I'm sure they will be happy to serve you up a second course. I am better and smarter than supporting persistent online DRM. Dig in buddy.

Having a multiplayer game mode does not necessitate the entire game be online-only. That is the DRM, hidden behind a veil of a design choice.

No, it is a single player game with DRM baked into it.

Not talking about MMOs, talking about single-player games with multiplayer requirements being shoe-horned in. It is DRM hiding behind the veil of being a "design choice."
