Another big aspect is knowing what kind of company you are working at. Some companies are renown for cultivating and growing their talent internally, over the course of years or decades. Other studios are equally renowned for being sweat-shops that cut 50%+ of the dev team a month before their game goes gold. It is

Yup, this is definitely true. Programmers and artists can and do make a lot more outside of the game industry and are asked to make a significant sacrifice for the opportunity to work on video games.

I've read that the average employment span for the game industry is 5 years. This is pitiful, and imo, indicative of people foolishly trying to work in the game industry without doing any meaningful research. Learn about the game industry before applying, it is ruthless and demanding. It is not an excuse to play video

Fantastic, I was just thinking about renewing my sub and it seems there will be plenty of new content for me to see. I loved getting my first 3 characters to level 50 and then I lost interest because I saw almost all the game's content. New content will definitely keep me paying and playing.

Wow, Dana White is eating a full serving of crow. He has gone on record as stating that EA will "NEVER" have the UFC license. I guess all it took was for THQ to go near-bankrupt for him to change his tune. I don't dislike Dana at all, but this is the most surprising E3 reveal so far.

The difference is that I'm not demonizing Curt Shilling the way many other comments/the internet at large is. I'm not saying he is without fault, or that he is entirely at fault, simply that people need to recognize that he is not some shiesty villain who skated away with the spoils of a dead company, he has lost more

Sure, of course people can cast judgement, observers who aren't qualified to cast judgement cast it all the time, but it rings pretty hollow. I'm sure there are people who are qualified to manage 30 million dollars who have much different opinions about 38 Studios than Kotaku commenters.

Yup, everyone wants to blame Curt, which is unfortunate. Don't forget, that despite the mismanagement and mistakes, Curt invested and lost thirty million dollars. 30,000,000. You can start casting your judgement when you've made and successfully invested 30 million dollars.

And that is fair, with so many big dev/publishers employing such a wide variety of shitty business practices, we all have to pick our poisons. But don't get attached to any Activision franchises, because it is quite certain to be milked to its death.

I love both Hitman and AC and I play them for entirely different reasons. I play Hitman for stealth gameplay (that really rewards stealth) and I play AC for the incredible settings, platforming and the beautiful mindfuck of a story. I'm sure some people (the masses) might think these games are in direct competition,

Well it is me, not my relatively new controller. My expectations are twitchy and immediate responsiveness, especially in any shooter. Being a cover based shooter, or being a shooter about giant lumbering characters, or any other reason, should not impede the twitchy responsiveness. I love shooters, including cover

Oh god, that konami presentation is literally the low-water mark for E3.

Sorry, you can keep supporting shitty business practices that are bad for the consumer. If you think that makes you an adult, then enjoy that. I have higher standards.

I mean a playable, joinable faction. The Vigilant of Stendarr are in vanilla Skyrim, but can't be joined or interacted with to any significant extent.

lol, I'm not trolling. you can disagree with me all you want, but I played the game at launch and was very disappointed. Please learn that disagreeing with me does not make me a troll.

No, I don't mean lag. I mean the responsiveness of the controls and animations. I've heard people say that it is part of the design(bc the characters a 300lb gorillas), but frankly, if that is the case, then it is a poor design choice. I should not have to repeatedly press a button to trigger a single command. It

E3 has been too lame and irrelevant for the past few years. I will still watch it, but its clear that the event is no where near as relevant or significant as it used to be. They need to have some quality control to filter out the embarrassing and crappy presentations and keynotes.

Looks like the Dawnguard might be the lawful good faction vanilla Skyrim was lacking. I can't wait to play this expansion!

I can't believe people support this game. Okay, the story and characters are garbage, sure, its a shooter. But the fucking gameplay sucks too. How are they selling copies of clunky and unresponsive shooters in an endless ocean of better designed games?

Hoping Activision loses in every way possible. May they fucking rot.
