Most Americans I know are more obsessed with “not losing,” than “winning.” It’s just that winning is how to not be a loser. So naturally, that becomes an obsession as well. I imagine most would welcome a tie, over an unfair coin-flip. Although, obviously, if they had a chance to win, they’d prefer that.
