Not sure if this article is 100% applicable only to straight couples. Is there any good research out there on the sexual habits of lesbian or gay couples? Do they tend to have more or fewer sex on average (statistically-relevant figures) than straight couples?

Yep you're totally right. However, one VERY strong counterpoint to all this is Yara Greyjoy. She's one of my favorite characters, kicks ass, has never been assaulted, and in the promos for the next episode looks like she's going to be a badass again. :)

Surviving is winning in the game of thrones, pretty much. :) And there are moments of hope & happiness, interspersed between all the bleakness. It's just that they're overwhelmed by the immense tragedies.

Well depending on who you consider major, there's still a few female characters that fit your criteria (at least as shown in the show thus far): Margaery, Olenna, Melisandre, Selyse, Ygritte, Yara, Elia of Dorne, and Asha. Most of these are strong women who wouldn't take shit from anybody.

On the show at least (as opposed to the books), there's Margaery, Olenna, Melisandre, Selyse, Ygritte, Yara, Asha, Elia of Dorne.... off the top of my head. Hopefully it stays that way!

Yep this is what happens when you have intentional lack of regulation. All the government cares about is industry & business, and any regulation on pollution would just hurt profits. The environment is really a non-issue to them.
