Considering that she spent a bonus section of Zero Mission in the Zero Suit, which this outfit is identical to, gameplay-wise...

Because children are going to be traumatized by a woman wearing an outfit about as revealing as the one on a female MMA fighter.

The context being a widely-reviled game, and a fighting game where you can still play as the armored version. Plus, y'know, almost two decades of other games, most of which haven't featured her being pretty in any significant degree.

The rocket boots are explicitly there to give her more physical power in combat, not to make her look sexier. Nintendo literally said so.

Just to be clear, I don't actually agree that female characters wearing skimpy clothes is necessarily pandering. I also don't think that saying she shouldn't is slut-shaming, just...dumb. I also think that this outfit is actually quite practical when you look at MMA.

I've been told by a very reliable source that it doesn't count as slut shaming because female characters costumes are designed by men to titillate men. Even in cases where it would be perfectly in-character and realistic for the female character to dress skimpily (coughTransformerscough), it's still exploitation.
