I would say an 8 bit computer is great because of its historical importance. We’re arguing different things, so there’s no point in continuing it. Your argument is dumb. That’s not an ad hominem attack, it’s a fact, and your smugness about it deserves an insult. Al Pacino is still a great actor. I can still watch his

It’s inherently idiotic to compare an old car to today’s cars because almost no one is cross shopping old and new cars. So, why even have this argument? Old cars are not bad cars. A bad choice for a daily driver to commute in maybe. But, being old doesn’t make them bad. That’s been my argument this whole time. But,

But, that doesn’t make Babe Ruth a bad baseball player. We’re not talking about buying the subjectively best car today. We’re talking about whether muscle cars were bad cars. They weren’t and still aren’t. Babe Ruth didn’t train to compete against today’s players just like those muscle cars weren’t built to compete

That’s an asinine statement. Was Einstein a retroactive idiot because he got a few things wrong? I don’t know why this is your hill to die on, but you’re wrong. And a lousy car enthusiast.

Get an old manual Mopar wagon and stick a hemi or something in it.

The Pinto. Yes, it was famous for catching on fire, but they fixed that and, in the end, no more people died from Pinto fires than any other car from the time catching on fire. So, moving on, the Pinto was a great economy car that was, for the time, well built, thrifty, comfortable, practical, and just what Americans

I’m not dying. And I’m not comparing classic muscle cars to today’s cars. Of course new cars are better. But, that doesn’t mean the old cars were bad. They were good for their time. It seems we agree. Just because they weren’t as well built as today’s cars doesn’t make them retroactively bad. And they did routinely

Well said. And yes, Chevelles are dull as heck. But to those that own and love them, drive the wheels off.

I’ve owned a few, yeah. And many other types of cars from the 60's and 70's including cars built by popular punching bag AMC and you are exaggerating. They were not built anywhere near to today’s standards, but they were not built that poorly. A few of them had more problems than others, but they’re actually quite

They’re not your grandpa’s muscle car any more. They do more than go in a straight line.

Those people do make you start to hate classic cars, but they’re either starting to change their tune, or dying off, or both. I don’t run into as many as I used to. The fun thing about an old car is appreciating the old technology. It’s fascinating and fun to drive something that feels old. But obviously we’ve made

I know. I put it in here more because I felt like someone should have than that I think it’s that overrated. Overpriced definitely.

You can’t see a damn thing out of them. And the back seat is useless and the trunk opening is way too small. I agree that this look ran its course almost immediately although I don’t think it’s a bad looking car. But, they’re really nice to drive. I was kind of stunned when I drove one. It was not what I expected. I

They do ride a little high, this is true. But, it’s really only noticeable when you’re staring at it just sitting there. When you see one driving down the road it’s like spotting something from another dimension.

You’re way over exaggerating the originals’ build quality. They were fine. They weren’t engineered and constructed by morons. One of the reasons there are so many left is that they were built like tanks. They never had the fit and finish of today’s cars, but they weren’t falling apart on the showroom floor.

It’s an incredible looking car. That’s really the only thing that’s rated about it. Everyone knows it isn’t a performance machine.

And they’re absolutely glorious to drive.

The Camaro happens to be pretty great, though. It’s a hell of a chassis and does actually handle well. And it has a lot of power for the money.

This is stupid. You don’t compare a 50 year old car to a modern one. They did not do anything wrong, they did the best they could with what they had at the time. Those were great cars that are still a hoot to drive because they don’t drive like a modern car.
