Damn, I was really curious to see what this game would end up like on WiiU. Would it have taken into account the criticisms and improve the game? Would it look better? Would the motion tracker on the gamepad be a cool element? I just think it would've been an interesting case study.
Orthy's analogies don't work because he's listing things that have NEVER worked without electricity or reception and comparing it to something that has for GENERATIONS worked without requiring internet.
What I find the biggest shame is that with the Disney deal, George Lucas sold all the IP's Lucasfilm and LucasArts owned lock stock and barrel.
I didn't mean to imply that including modern mechanics would count as evolving the genre. My two points were that not giving players anything new would be criticized as not evolving the genre, and giving players modern elements would be seen as betraying the game's roots. Neither scenario evolves the genre, but for…
Since this is a cross-promotion with the TV show, I really don't understand why they don't make the base game free and charge for extras.
Like, if you want the fancy weapon character X uses on the show, pay $. If you want that other character's costume, or their vehicle paint job, or whatever, pay $.
Id is in a sort of "damned if they do, damned if they don't" scenario with Doom 4.
If they keep the next Doom just like the old Doom's, then they'll get criticized for making a retro shooter that doesn't evolve the genre.
Nice riff on the original Terminator music in that trailer.
For a guy who's in his 80's, Shatner still seems pretty spry.
I dunno, while it looks like it could a decent endless runner, it's... still an endless runner.
I don't mean to knock the genre. There are some cool ones, and some properties really work in that style of game than others. The new Sonic one looks pretty appropriate (though I was hoping it was going to be a 2D runner),…
Joe Gunn, a Commodore 64 game that came out in... 2007.
I just got the game on Steam and have it on my gaming PC and my work Mac. My PC is set up for controller gaming (that is to say, to play games from my couch.) My Mac is on my desk. I first played the game on my PC with the controller, and it played fine. After about an hour I decided to try it on my Mac with mouse and…
No Operation Wolf?
Looks really cool. Kinda surprised it doesn't seem to tie in at all with Pixeljunk Shooter (looks like it could easily use the scientists and whatnot from that series—as if the reason why they were out exploring was to discover new things to make soup out of.)
Yeah, exactly. I don't need a new game or new everything. I liked the "ant farm." I liked the game play. I liked the interface. And so on and so on. I want the exact same game, but just new missions. Some new weapons, new solider types, new enemy types, new environments, new expansions to the base. Exactly the kinds…
I am tempted to buy this again for iPad. Seriously, if they give the mobile version any sort of bonus that the earlier release doesn't, I'll get it instantly.
Yeah, this game actually plays really well with a controller on PC.
Aside from the UI aesthetics, it looks like it played more or less how the final product does (of course, minus the cows and such.) Granted, it doesn't show you much aside from a few turns. And did this early version actually use all the same sounds that the final release has, or did they add those sounds to this…
I *really* hope it's DLC as opposed to an entirely new game.
