Actually, you see these pop up on local news stations a lot. They let reporters pretend to be cops and see when they would choose to use lethal force to show how hard it is to make that distinction. Ostensibly to try and get people to cut them some slack for shooting people?

In regards to #2, I‘m not sure what the lighting situation is there but I play softball on a field that has some low angled lights. When a pop fly went into the darkness it was a bitch to spot until all of a sudden it was hurtling down out of the darkness.
