My acne cleared up when I stopped using products with salycillic acid and switched to a fragrance-free cleanser for sensitive skin, and used cocnut oil as a moisturizer. I had heard acne clears up when you use less-harsh products but never believed until I finally tried this...really worked for me.
Didn't know that about nail health. I always credited my OPI top coat. I waitress part time on the weekends so my hands and nails take a beating, too.

Really? I've been doing my own nails for years, and it usually lasts about a week. Two thinish coats of color, then a top coat. Works like a charm..as long as I don't pick it off. :)

But that's what's so fucked up about it! If that's true, this woman is suffering but is under that much pressure that she is living this double life. Living a lie! It's messed up.
It's not a stretch to imagine that, and that's exactly what's so unsettling about it to me. That we live in such a culture that allows and supports her living that double life. That many are justifying the whole thing for the very reason you imagine. That's fucked up! The whole thing is just gross.
It may have been, but I think the point is it strikes many of us as odd that one would have that kind of a reaction in the middle of an assault...in a tiny, enclosed space no less.

Right, but you can just tell them that. That it's something she might not be able to understand yet, but it has to do with the way people in our culture view and treat women, and how that affects women. Or that you're not sure yet how to explain it to her, but you're going to think about it and revisit it with her…
Judging someone's choice to get plastic surgery is not judging their body, though.
