Yeah I've heard about studies that suggest the complete opposite. (Tho I don't have any citations for them sadly.)

Your obtuseness is outstanding. Enjoy your next meal at a restaurant!

Yep, pretty much! And a lot of Americans really get off on knowing we servers have to suck ass and make sure they are having a grand old time just so we can earn a basic wage. Not all, but many. The first time I traveled to Europe, I couldn't believe how much more relaxed it was to dine out. No rush, no poor servers

The price of your dining ticket reflects the cost of the food, and does not include the cost of having someone hand-deliver it to you in a timely manner. That's what the tip is for. Not charity. It's basic human decency, which seems like a real reach for you to understand, let alone demonstrate. If you don't feel

Oh cool, glad you're aware at least, and don't mind. Happy dining!

Nope, sorry. The server wasn't bad at his job. It's not our job to never make mistakes with the bill or to never spill drinks. Shit happens, especially when you are having your food and beverages hand-delivered to you in a stressful environment. We're human beings. Have you ever made a mistake at your job? Does that

seriously? no. this shit happens all the time.

hahaha YES, thank you!

Rolling my eyes at your manager. So ridiculous!!! People can sense when that shit is forced and honestly I think it makes them uncomfortable. And that damn question, "Why did you come out to eat" is so obnoxious! Like, it's not my business unless you voluntarily want to share that info w/ me. And for 90% of ppl, they

Hey, just so you know, with an attitude like that towards servers and dining out, you have definitely ingested the bodily fluids of people in the food service industry.

yeah we get $2.30/hour in my state.

Aaaaaaaaah "guest connections"!!!!!!!! ::shudders:: YES I know exactly what you mean. We have to keep that smile plastered on and make sure we CREATE THE POSITIVE DINING EXPERIENCE NO MATTER WHAT. Shouldn't the positive dining experience come naturally from going out to eat with your friends/family and having your

oh my god, do I feel you. that bowing and scraping shit ("SURE!!!!!!!!") and running back and forth to accommodate your endless changing requests that you bark at me, only to end up earning a $7 tip off of a $56 check gets to be too much sometimes.

right. so the food costs more.

interesting! you could be right, maybe it is a vegas thing.

Yeah but at least they don't act like entitled, demanding pricks. I actually love waiting on Europeans b/c they're so much more relaxed and are there to enjoy their dining experience, not bark at you for every little request, snap their fingers at you, and want to get out of there as soon as they're done eating. And I

This is seriously your understanding of waiting tables, and how you relate to people serving you your food? The reason it's so cheap going to restaurants is b/c restaurants don't have to pay their servers minimum wage. Servers get 2.30 an hour in most states. Fucking tip your servers 20%, or don't go out to eat.

100% agree!

When Americans go out to eat, it opens up this pandora's box of obnoxious power/control/entitlement issues that gets dumped on the server. Especially when the ticket gets close to $100. Then people will reeeeeally find every and any excuse they can to stiff you on a tip. $93 ticket means this server busted her ass

you are very much loved by ppl in the food service industry. thank you.
