Predictably, it crashed on it's second flight.

It uses a highly advanced modular construction based on a brand new carbon fiber chassis with the rear frame holding the suspension pick-up points to make engine swaps as easy as possible. Front and rear push-rods, Bosch Motorsport electronics, Dunlop tires, and loads of downforce will keep it stuck to the ground.
Ha ha, yeah I suppose. Don't forget the bumper sticker.
Well, sounds like Kotkin took his business model from NPR.
Uh, can't you say that for just about everything that people on Jalopnik think is wrong? Replace "the Apple brand" with Camry, pristine trucks with perpetually empty beds, performance cars that never see the track or are auto only, blah blah blah and "millenials" with just about everybody else, fat cats, posers, etc.
Composites are a combination of fiber (carbon fiber, fiber glass, kevlar, rebar, etc.) and matrix (epoxy, thermoset plastic, ceramic, concrete, etc.). Duroplast is just another type of composite (waste cotton fiber and some thermoset plastic). Hand lay up, which is what you're referring to for fiberglass, is just…

And like today, Hanaya's sushi was popular with children. (Generally speaking, Japanese children love eating curry, sushi, and grilled beef. Not at the same time, mind you.)
Right, because the best thing for a nascent industry is to cause countless crashes and thousands of deaths, killing off the adoption of autonomous vehicles before it even starts. Google's Salesky points that out.
When I had cable it was on a weird NBC sports channel that I could barely find. When I went to watch the replays because I couldn't get up early enough for it, it was some stupid hockey documentary. I never understand why the networks don't just broadcast on internet if they're going to fuck with people's schedule…
"We were chasing (low-cost) labor markets with engineers. That's a big mistake," said Mark Reuss, GM global product development chief. "Engineers, frankly, were treated as commodities.
It's California NIMBY at its best. Rich bay area peninsula folks don't want the high speed rail through their neighborhood. They want to build a tunnel starting from like San Jose all the way to San Francisco and want everyone else to pay for it. As far as I can tell, the Central Valley folks are hardcore…
Some of the issues have to do with disrupting the cab market. Other countries have extremely reasonable concerns about the regulations of drivers. India, where a driver was accused of assaulting a passenger, is probably in the worst position.
Sounds like the problem is not enough medallions. Most cabbies rent their cabs so there's not much they can do about the smelly/old cars. It's the fleet medallion owners that everyone hates.
In my experience, project manager at an aerospace firm is not what a typical engineer does. Usually, they mess with the schedule, chill with the customer, and generally have no concrete deliverables. She is a good role model but thinking of doing things better is really not in the cards for most of us. Also, a lot…
They are control and electrical engineers. Doesn't seem like there is a structural/mechanical engineer among them. It takes a bit of effort to properly design composite parts. Should've paid more attention in statics and composite classes. Gluing strips of fiber onto a 3D printed part was a dead giveaway.
Hey Paul,
The system encourages "indentured servitude" by decreasing social mobility and technology is reinforcing that to a certain extent. Your argument is a false one because most people want to work to support their families, and if they can't then what is your solution? Crying that nobody is forcing anyone to do this is…
I think he's referring to the fact that Uber considers itself just a market, playing match maker between drivers and riders while accepting the minimum amount of liability/responsibility. I tend to agree. I think the solution is to have more medallions, owner operators, and an app to hail taxis.
Around 6:40, buy new pants!!! You deserve it!!!
