I don't see how not meeting a production goal, that is presumably the basis for your employment, is a union issue. Sure it sounds bad, and probably is, but most employment should be merit based, union or not.
Roots was another great fiasco. My dad worked there for over 25 years. What happened there was an avoidable tragedy that resulted in the loss of a competitive company to greed. It's hard to imagine that Connersville was once a successful small town.
That's the point...you have an already narrow market (police cruisers) and are going to narrow it further by only catering wealthy communities? This makes no financial sense, especially in the midst of a massive economic downturn.
And what is said employees protection from recourse from said company for blowing the whistle? This story has been played out before with predictable consequences.
