I’ve only seen the pilot, so I can’t give a fair assessment. 

Legends of Tomorrow is the only current comicbook-based property that I can think off that not only embraces the spirit of the Silver Age of comics, but also stabs you in the eyeball with a syringe-full of the stuff and injects it directly into your brain.
