Of those I’ve only been to DC, and the layout is a mess. Very easy to get lost if you try going anywhere that’s not near the National Mall. We spent more time lost and avoiding hordes of joggers.

In my experience Manhattan is the only place in the US where you can visit and you can move around without needing to rent a car.
