This sounds more like Eve + Destiny + Wing Commander, which sounds pretty damn awesome. I do worry about the scope though, since their budget is far less than the game next closest in scale, GTA5, at ~$260 million (also the most expensive).

Long overdue? By November they will reach 2 years of development. Games take time, big and ambitious games take more. Rockstar takes 5 years on average to make their games, you don’t see people complaining. Just be glad that Cloud Imperium are so transparent with the development instead of keeping it under wraps.

I just recently built a new computer so when Star Citizen comes out I can play it. Just hope that when it does come out that I do not have to upgrade my current computer to be able to play it.
