Firearms aren’t 100% reliable even without electronics.

Thats exactly the point. Most responsable and inteligent people that carry firearms test them before using them for self defense. Many require thousands of rounds without malfunction to be considered reliable enough to carry. Imagine adding the complexity of electronics and batteries to that?

Problem is, how do yo get all the guns in the US to get these electronics? Does everyone have to turn theirs in for modification or disposal? What about illegal/hidden guns that are not reported? Whats the point of law abiding people locking their guns electronically if the guy coming to shoot up the mall or whatever

And one single publicized failure of the system to work properly and allow a shooter to operate the firearm in a duress situation will tank the entire market.

Smith and Wesson I believe had a gun with an integrated lock for which you needed a key. It was a total failure.

That seems like a lot more likelihood of user error/failure while under duress.

Many people, particularly gun owners, aren’t a fan of a government “chip” implanted in their skin.

Why would a CVT car need shifters? There’s no “shifting” that needs to be done.

and completely useLESS to anyone attempting to defend themselves...

IT will always be able to fail - 100% guarenteed.

you are forgetting that anything with electronics would need to be kept charged. Would need to have batteries replaced.

That’s really not it at all from either the self-defense perspective or the competitive perspective. Source: am competitive shooter.

shhhh quiet you! your making sense and using logic

don’t confuse them!

Would finger print coding my car keys keep me from crashing it, driving drunk, running over someone intentionally, ect...

as a firearm owner and carrier im not going to even consider this until its utterly 100 percent reliable and cannot fail. If im on duty (im not a cop, just an example) doing a traffic stop and am fired upon, i have NO time to fuck with electronics on my pistol. i need to draw and fire. guns can fail as is, adding an

That’s the best point right there: this is targeted towards people who don’t exist. Responsible gun owners already have their guns locked up. Irresponsible gun owners, by definition, don’t care about the gun’s security.

The token-based tech like the Armatrix one probably won’t sell. If you’re mindful enough to always keep the token around to unlock the gun, then you’re also responsible enough to secure the firearm in a safe or use a triggerlock so your kid doesn’t get to it. In which case, the utility of the token is a bit dubious.

Or, like, gloves.

The fingerprint reader is even worse. I can't unlock my iPhone after washing my hands. Imagine having to unlock your gun with sweaty hands.

No Shit.
